14 Apr Will Negative Feelings Towards Exotic Car Owners Make You Less Successful?
Many of us have seen a Ferrari or Lamborghini at one point in our lives and thought, how did that guy get so lucky? Or maybe we thought I wish my parents were rich so I could afford a car like that. I have done it myself where I think negative thoughts about exotic car owners. I think they must have gotten lucky to be able to afford a car like that.
Having the attitude that someone must be lucky to have an exotic car or that you can never have a car like that is horrible for your own success. In fact, studies show that as high as 80 percent of American millionaires are self made. Self-made millionaires did not inherit their money, but made it. You can say they were lucky or fell into their success, but I love the quote from Brian Tracy:
“I’ve found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.”
The next time you see someone in an awesome car that makes everyone stare. Don’t be the person that says “must be nice” or “I wish I had a trust fund”. Instead be the person that says “I can’t wait until that is me” or “I wonder how he made his money and if I can do the same thing”.
Why will a negative attitude towards the wealthy hurt your success?
I mentioned that I used to have a more negative attitude towards the wealthy. It is easy to have that attitude when we are bombarded from the media and television that we should feel ill will towards the wealthy. When I started to stop feeling negative towards the rich and instead feel awe and inspiration, my world changed. I found more success, I started setting goals and I became that guy with the Lamborghini.
When you have a bad attitude towards something you are telling yourself you don’t want it. If you don’t like broccoli and you always tell yourself how much you hate broccoli what do you think about before you take a bite? You can tastes in your mouth how bad that broccoli will be, you have pre conditioned yourself to hate that broccoli and your subconscious will try to avoid it when possible.
If you tell yourself how much undeserving the wealthy are, how lucky they are and have negative feelings towards them, you are telling yourself being wealthy is bad and you don’t want to be wealthy. It may sound ridiculous to some that your subconscious can control your success in life, but it is a lot smarter than we are!
Use wealthy people to your advantage
When you meet someone who is wealthy do you automatically think they must feel they are better than me? The truth is they are probably not thinking they are better than you, but concentrating on enjoying themselves and having as much fun as possible. Most wealthy do not like to think negatively or be around negative people, but that doesn’t mean they won’t help people out. I am by no means extremely rich, but I have been around many wealthy people and would be considered above average income wise. I help people all the time, the wealthy help people all the time. There is a ton you can learn from the wealthy and that is what this site is all about. Learning how the wealthy got wealthy and seeing some awesome cars at the same time.
If you see someone who is wealthy don’t despise them, talk to them! Introduce yourself and see if they have any pointers or tips. The worst that can happen is they say they are too busy to talk. They don’t know you and no harm done.
Jim Rohn and many motivational speakers speak about this idea all the time:
“Your income will be the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
That means if you spend all your time with people making $50,000 a year. You will be around $50,000 a year ideas and lifestyles and you will more than likely make $50,000 a year as well. If you want to make a lot more money and step up into higher income brackets, you need to be around millionaires with million dollar ideas.
I have taken Jack Canfields personal coaching program and it was awesome. I have learned a ton from T Harv Eker and I have also been involved in a high level mastermind group with members who make much more than I do. The more I am around the wealthy, the more I learn and the more successful I am.
It can be hard to change the way we think. Many of our believes are ingrained into us from a very young age. If you have negative thoughts whenever you see wealth, you will have a much harder time every becoming wealthy yourself. Instead of despising the rich, learn from them.
