There are many different reasons people buy exotic cars. Some people have dreamed of owning an exotic since they were a child, others want a status symbol that shows they made it and some use exotic cars for marketing. I was one of those people who always dreamed of owning a Lamborghini when I was a kid. I lost that dream, but found it again and own a 1999 Diablo. Not only was owning a Lamborghini a dream of mine, but I have been able to use the car for marketing to help my business.

Exotic cars are not cheap to buy or cheap to own, but using the cars for business can be a great way to offset some of the cost or at least try to justify buying a Lamborghini. Many people think the cars can be a great tax write off, but the IRS recently changed tax laws and it is pretty difficult to write off cars for your business even if you directly market them. When I drive my Diablo everyone looks at it and everyone notices it. That is why exotic cars can be such a great marketing tool.

How have I used my Lamborghini Diablo to market my real estate business?

When I bought my Diablo I did not buy it only as a marketing tool. I bought it because I loved the car, it was the perfect color and I thought it was a great deal. A bonus from buying the car was I could use it for marketing my real estate business and my blog. I am a real estate agent with a team of eight people who are agents and assistants. I don’t sell many houses myself anymore, but my team sells a lot of houses and I drive leads to them as much as I can.

  • I created a flyer for the Diablo that says anyone who buys a house with my team gets a free ride in the car. I don’t mention this fact to anyone that buys a house with us, just people who see the flyer.
  • When I stop for gas, at the car wash, to get groceries or anywhere I am stopped by people who want know about the car. I even have people stop at my house when I am washing the car in the driveway to come take a look at it. As a real estate agent this is an excellent way to meet and talk to people. The real estate business is about networking and marketing and I have a ton of people who recognize the car and know my team because of it.
  • I had a license plate frame made that gives my team name and lists just for people who see that license plate frame. If they go to the website they see they can get a free ride if they buy a house with my team.

There are more ways to market the car that I have not tried yet. I can use it to advertise open houses, I could rent the car out for events and leave my flyer with my name and number on it, I have also contacted Make-a-Wish and wounded warrior to see if I can use the car to help them raise money for charity or grant a wish (nothing has come of that yet).

How have I used my exotic car to advertise my online business?

Anyone can talk about exotic cars, but when you actually have one I think it makes things a little more interesting. The car was the reason I started and although the site is brand new I think it has a lot of potential.

I have also used the Lamborghini to advertise my real estate investing site That site has grown tremendously over the last two years and I was able my journey towards buying a Lamborghini with that site. When people see I could afford a Lamborghini that also gives me credibility that I am making money and what I am doing actually works. But please don’t buy an exotic car if you can’t afford it.

How have others used exotic cars to market their business?

Hopefully you did not relate my real estate blog and business to the late night Lamborghini owner with three girls on his yacht infomercial for making millions with real estate. That is not my style, but it is another example of how cars provide credibility and help people market themselves.

Hotels and restaurants will even use customer cars to market their business. If you pull up in a Ferrari at a restaurant that has valet parking. Do you think they will park it in the back or right in front where everyone can see it? When I stay at hotels they always have the nicest cars parked right in front of the lobby. Those cars bring attention and the more attention a business can generate the better.

Anyone trying to advertise consulting of any sort can use exotic cars to show they are successful and they can make you successful as well.

If you have any kind of business that markets to children, an exotic car will get their attention. One of the most fun things about my car is seeing kids reactions to it. They love it and if a child has any control over their parents (they all do no matter how much we parents deny it) they can help influence a parents buying decision.


I would not buy an exotic car just to advertise your business, unless it will make a huge impact. But I think the advertising possibilities of exotic cars can make the ownership experience more fun and help pay for the car.

    Hi Mark! My name is Henry Kam, also a real estate investor (rental properties) and im also a fanatic for exotic cars. Im curious as to what strategy would you use an exotic car as a way to advertise rental properties? I want to bring them up as a discussion with my current cpa!

      Hmm, what about open houses using the car to advertise? Or pictures of the car for ads on facebook?

    Mark, I’m a Oahu HI agent and I’m really looking into buying a new corvette. The only think stopping me is the negative feedback from owning one form potential leads. Do you think I should proceed or will everyone not want to work with a corvette “douche” lol? My plan is to not only enjoy driving it but sincerely use it as a networking tool and advertisement piece. Realize speed limits in HI are brutally low but at night the roads are wide open and I cant help but imagine the Magnum PI in me.
